Review: Little Mercies by Heather Gudenkauf

Hey guys! Just finished a book that will easily make it on my list of favorites for the year, possibly ever. I was browsing the books at Target and it caught my eye. So glad I picked it up! It’s called Little Mercies by Heather Gudenkauf.

I really want to avoid spoilers with this review, but basically Little Mercies is told from two different perspectives, which eventually collide. One is from Ellen – a mother and social worker. The other is from 10-year-old Jenny who lives with her semi-neglectful father. Tragedy strikes Ellen while Jenny’s life also takes an unexpected turn. Both stories are told beautifully.

Simply put, this book was amazing. I couldn’t put it down. From beginning to end it captured my attention and had me dying to know what would happen next. It was so well written and emotional, I really felt like I knew the characters. It was a quick read mostly because I couldn’t stop reading it.

Obviously I give Little Mercies two huge thumbs up. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially if you like suspenseful, emotional, moving stories. I will definitely be checking out Heather Gudenkauf’s other novels. Until next time!!
